The Marangu Route is the lightest and shortest route to the summit of Kilimanjaro. This route is also known as the "Coca Cola" or "tourist path". The route is equipped with comfortable sleeping huts with solar panels and comfortable beds in each camp, where the expedition stops at night.



Upon arrival at the airport you will be met by a representative of the Kilimanjaro team, who will accompany you to the Marangu hotel where you can relax after a long flight.

In the morning after breakfast, you will pack and be briefed about the journey, You will be then be taken to the gates of the park (1,830 m), from where you will begin your unforgettable adventure. You will pass through an amazing rainforest, watching exotic plants, African animals and birds on the way to Mandara hut (2,740 m), which is located at the foot of the mountain. You have to walk for 7 kilometers; the path takes about 4-5 hours. When you reach the hut, you can relax and you will have time to walk on Mound crater, which is about half an hour’s walk from the hut. In the evening, a home-cooked meal will be prepared for you.

A knock on the door will wake you up for a cup of tea. Warm water will be prepared for washing. After breakfast you leave Mandara you will go to the next hut, Horombo (3,690 m). You have to go up 11 kilometers. The path will take about 6-8 hours. Upon reaching Horombo you can relax. In the evening you will have dinner.

After breakfast, ascend to Kibo hut (4.695 m). Along the way will open delightful views quite close to one of the peaks of Mount Mawenzi. The road goes through mountain wilderness. You have to walk for 10 kilometers; the road will take about 6-8 hours.

You will wake up just after midnight, be offered a hot cup of tea, and then you will start the journey to the top, Gillman Peak (5,679 m), which is on the edge of the crater. The path to Gillman Peak takes about 6 hours. This is the last spurt to conquer the Roof of Africa, Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). You will move slowly, with short breaks and the path takes 1.5 - 2 hours. There, on top of Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) you will be awarded a certificate confirming your extraordinary achievement and you will start the descent to Kibo. After relaxing in Kibo you go to Horombo. The way down, 14 kilometers, will take you about 10 hours. Upon arrival at the hut you can relax and dine.

After breakfast you go from Horombo to exit the park. You have to walk for 18km, which takes 5-6 hours. At the gates of the park you will wait for transport, which takes you to the Marangu hotel, where guests can enjoy the luxury of a hot bath and a cold beer!
